It is advisable to desist from adding a luggage tag to your luggage otherwise you will lose more than just your luggage. Adding luggage tags to our suitcase before going for holiday always offers us a sense of accomplishment, but not everyone is well prepared to have tags to add to their luggage! But we are, and we are better for it; if our luggage gets lost, at least it will be found again, isn’t it? Wrong! Adding a tag to your luggage can be really dangerous!
It actually makes you very vulnerable.
It is actually risky to tag your luggage, even though you might think it is safer to do so in case your suitcase went missing. Richard Clive Owens regularly travels for work and other events and he told Mamamia that he thinks luggage tags are unsafe. They spread a message you don’t want to send, namely: “this house is empty, please burgle – and take your time”. You also shouldn’t put the address of a friend or family member on the tag, since criminals will then simply go there to break in instead.
By adding a luggage tag with your home address on it you are basically giving criminals the opportunity to rob your home. That isn’t your interest! If you’d wanted to be robbed, you could just have left your door open. Owens therefore recommends the following solution: “Ideally put a work address and mobile number on it. Then, even if your mobile has a problem, your name and work address will help you and your underwear gets reunited.”
Therefore, next time you want to add a luggage tag, don’t put your home address on it. That way, both your suitcase and your belongings at home will be safe!
