How to Make an Oatmeal Bath to Soothe Chapped Skin and Sunburn

The skin is a protective covering for the general body which makes it the largest organ. You almost spent a lifetime cleaning and nurturing the skin, just for it to remain radiant and youthful. But, do you know that an old-fashioned oatmeal bath can be a comforting part of your daily beauty routine? Just like many of the essential organs, much of the skin is exposed to elements, especially the sun. Invariably, how you care for your complexion now will be evident when you are older.

How to create an oatmeal bath

Do you often experience skin that feels irritated, dry, or itchy from overexposure to the sun or from skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis? Then you need to look no further than your pantry. Natural ingredients are being used by our ancestors for numerous health and beauty remedies. Oats are a top ingredient when it comes to skin conditions.

Here is a basic recipe that works very okay for dry and sun-kissed skin. What you need include:

·        A blender

·        Half cup ground oatmeal

·        One cup of whole milk or goat’s milk

·        Half cup of honey

·        ¼ cup of almond oil

·        Ten drops of your preferred essential oil, such as lavender

Now, put the oatmeal in your blender and pulse it at high speed till it forms coarse flour. You can now add the milk, honey, almond oil and essential oil and blend for about three seconds or till it fully blends. Then pour the mixture into a seasonable container and use it within three days.

You should be free to experiment with other recipes for you to get the ones that you will prefer most. Since these mixtures don’t have preservatives, you can’t store them for a long period and when you notice that your bathing mixture is making your skin condition deteriorate, just stop using it.
