A lot of people struggle with perspiration at night. It is a case whereby you mightn’t be particularly warm, but still you wake up sweating. There are several possible reasons for night sweats. We have come up with the most common reasons for night sweats and how to effectively solve it. This implies that you won’t have to wake up in a puddle of moisture any more. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Although it could be that your bedroom is simply too warm, it could also be something else, let us get it started!

Sleep naked

There are some people who enjoy sleeping naked or perhaps they think they will be less hot when they are naked. The more clothes you wear, the warmer you are, isn’t it? Actually, the opposite is the truth. If you wear a cotton T-shirt, the sweat will be absorbed by the fabric, which implies that you won’t ruin your bed sheets. Moreover, when you are wearing pajamas, you won’t need to cover yourself with as much bedding. In fact, you will be less warm and sweat less. It is therefore recommended that you wear pyjamas made of cotton or linen, as synthetic fabrics will make you sweatier.

Fitness

If you are watching over your health and you admire to work out at night, this could be the reason for your night sweats. When you have broken a sweat during your workout, it might take your body two to four hours to cool down again. If you exercise right before going to bed, it could be a real reason why you are feeling hot and sweaty. You should therefore try to plan your workouts at least four hours before going to bed. This will enable your body to cool down enough and it will also help with your sleeping, as you might feel jittery right after a workout.

Menopause

If you are a woman in your late forties or early fifties, you might be suffering from your menopause. This could cause hot flashes and perspiration. It is no fun and it can be quite bothersome, but unfortunately nothing can be done about it. Instead, you should try bedding made of breathable fabric, such as cotton or linen, not synthetics. Also, change it often and wear pyjamas made of the same fabric.

Spicy foods

Do you want your food to be spicy? This might be the basic reason for your night sweats. Your body needs to work a little harder to digest the spicy food, hence causing your body to heat up. When you consume a lot of hot sauce and realize that you are sweating more at night, it might be time to hold back on the spices.
